The new bylaw draft is presented to all of us in the OCCS. This will define the future of OCCS. Everyone's opinion counts. After gathering all the inputs from all of us, the OCCS bylaw will be finalized and we will hold a general referendum to make a decision on passing or rejecting this new OCCS bylaw, around March 2012.

The 2012 Spring Enrollment will start on Dec. 4th. We will still divide it into two periods, the pre-enrollment and open enrollment.

The pre-enrollment is designed for the existing students to continue the same class as started in the Fall. This restriction applies to Chinese and Math classes only during this period. We encourage everyone to take the advantage by enroll early.

It's reminder that this Sunday will be the last day to purchase meal voucher for the annual Moon Festival and National Day celebration, scheduled for Sept. 25, 2011 4:30 - 7:45 pm at TWHS, for $6 (lunch box with a piece of mooncake) and $1 (slice of pizza). Dear OCCS Students/Parents/Teachers,

Hope you all enjoyed the summer break! Chinese School will start the 2011-2012 school year tomorrow August 21, 2011. All classes will be held at Thomas Worthington High School (TWHS). Please view 2011-2012 School Calendar 

On First day of school, if you do not see your student‘s name on the roster posted on the classroom door, please take your student to registration in room 127 to make sure that the student is properly enrolled. Last year, we had received few complaints from TWHS due to the diligence of students, parents, teachers and OCCS volunteers. Thank you all very much and let us keep up the good job.

Please observe the following:

• Visit the OCCS School Regulations page at http://www.columbus-occs.org/regulations.html, review the rules and follow them in the new school year.
• Be sure to carry out your duty as the room parent, and the security patrol for the school, at least once to twice per school year.
• Parents should not stay in the classroom unless they are the room parents, nor should they linger in the hallway. It is highly recommended that you drop off your student at school then leave or stay at the cafeteria (unless you are on the room parent or security patrol duty).
• Students/parents are to report to school if the teacher is late or leaving early.

By enrolling in OCCS, you have pledged to follow school regulations. Breaking the rules might give you temporary convenience, but that action can result in fines and ultimately your expulsion from OCCS. Please follow the rules and help us to enforce the rules!

The PC/SA team had held multiply meetings in preparation for the new school year. We hope that more parents/volunteers will join the team and help with school operation.

Maggie Feng is a student of OCCS chass class. She was recently qualified as a team member for the 2011 World Youth Championship in the Girls Under 12 section. She will have the opportunity to compete as a member of an elite team of players and coaches who will represent the United States in Caldas Novas-Goias, Brazil, November 17-27, 2011.

Dear OCCS Parents, Teachers and Volunteers:
Hope all of you had a great summer! 2011-2012 OCCS Parents Committee has been working very hard throughout the summer to conduct the search for OCCS next principal. After nomination ended officially on July 20, we had contacted all of the nominated candidates. All of the nominated candidates have declined to serve as OCCS Principal for various reasons and concerns. On July 31, OCCS Parents Committee held a meeting to make the decision on Principal selection. PC persuaded Dr. Lin Xu to serve as OCCS Principal for the coming school year. We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Lin Xu has accepted the nomination and agreed to serve as 2011-2012 OCCS principal. We would like to thank Dr. Xu for his dedication to OCCS. Please join us to congratulate Dr. Lin Xu. Dr. Xu will organize the School Administrative Committee for 2011-2012 School-year and supervise the overall management of OCCS.
